About Myself
Hello! My name is Jimmy Oliva and I'm a self-taught Front End Developer located in Huntington, New York. I have a passion for building that’s fueled by a goal to improve my skillset to the highest level possible.
I love to learn new things and consider myself a perfectionist, leaving no stone unturned. I’m competitive by nature, which I attribute to years of playing baseball growing up. As a kid, I also discovered a love for building, whether it was with Legos or creating a whole new world in Minecraft (both of which I admittedly still love today). I always enjoyed the challenge of creating something new that was superior to my previous build. I find myself applying this same practice in my work today with programming, and remain competitive with both myself and my peers.
Standard vanilla HTML5, CSS3, and Javascript are my roots, but I've fallen in love with primarily using React JS & Redux with styled components and SASS. I’ve used standard backend technologies such as Node JS/Express, MongoDB/Mongoose, and Firestore in the past, and with the right guidance, I'm confident that any technology thrown my way will be something I can master!
